The Safety, Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 1988 (SRC Act) allows certain Commonwealth authorities and eligible private sector corporations (viz 35 at 30/6/17) to self-insure their workers' compensation liabilities and/or claims management.
So not only all commonwealth government organisations are subject to the WHS Act (Commonwealth) 2011, but also 29 or the 35 private sector organisations. See the list at left to see if your employer is one of the 29.
Licensees not covered under the WHS Act continue to be regulated by the relevant state and territory work health and safety regulators.
If your organisation (or a wholly owned subsidiary) is not on this list, it is probable that training under the WHS Act (Commonwealth) 2011 is not suitable for you.
